CherriiPOP Season 3 Recap
Listen to podcast:
Cherriipop Season 3 Finale - Season recap by CherriiPOP
I can’t believe another season of CherriiPOP has just ended. This is our 3rd season on air and it’s been the best season to date. Some highlights from this season include:
- Rain being named number 1 on Time’s 100 most influential list. That was really exciting. Rain attended the Time’s 100 party and met Sting! Rain tweeted a photo of him and Sting. Rain was stoked to find out that Sting knew who he was.
- On this season, I had a few stories about governments helping the public with their dating lives. In Japan and Singapore, leaders are concerned over the nation’s low birth rate. By matchmaking the public, Leaders hope this will lead to marriage and then babies.
- I had guests join me in studio this season. Thank you to everyone who came in. My friend Ben came in studio to teach us some Japanese. That podcast is the most listened to CherriiPOP podcast in history. That’s really awesome.
- We’ve had quite a few kung fu stories this season. Hong Kong flight attendants learning kung fu for good health and self defense from scary passengers. The kung fu cleaning lady in Beijing – She has been given the nickname ‘Aunty Broom’
- Japan is still recovering from the devastating natural and nuclear disasters. Celebrities have helped in the Japan relief effort. Our thoughts and prayers are with Japan.
I love this show and it is a big joy for me to come in studio each week to chat to you and play your favourite tracks. I hope you have enjoyed listening to the show. I really want to thank you for all your support. Our online fanbase is growing. We currently have 42 facebook likes, 38 twitter followers, 2 youtube subscribers, 7 soundcloud followers. Thank you so much everyone.

Odd Things I saw - Yarn Graffiti
Winter has started early in Melbourne, too early for my liking. Everyone has to rug up and wear many layers when outside. Well I came across this interesting story for Odd things I saw this week.
Yarn Graffiti is the coolest type of vandalism out there and its taking over the world! What is it you ask? Well, artists ‘yarn bomb’ a site by covering an area with knitted artwork. This is how the New York Times described Yarn bombing which I find really profound: Yarn bombing takes the most matronly craft (knitting) and that most maternal gestures (wrapping something cold in a warm blanket) and transfers it to the urban landscape.
Another name for Yarn Graffiti is Grandma Graffiti. Lots of world landmarks have been yarn bombed. Here are some pics of Yarn Graffiti. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Rain talks about his future @ Macau Press conference
Listen to podcast
Rain's macau concert & future by CherriiPOP
My favourite singer Rain tweeted some cool pics of his Macau tour this week. I really like his disappearing act photo.
Rain held a press conference before his concert on May 14. Organisers made sure the press weren't allowed to ask questions about his upcoming military service (which has been delayed until the end of this year). His enlistment date has been pushed back a number of times, due to his study and work commitments. It would be hard for Rain to leave his successful career and join the army for 2 years.
During the press conference, Rain was happy to talk about his new movie ‘Living in the Sky’ where he plays a pilot. He expressed his interest in taking on more action and romantic roles in the future.
It is my dream to see him live in concert! But things haven’t worked out yet! Like in 2007, when I went to China for a holiday, Rain came to Sydney for the first time to perform! When I heard, I was absolutely devastated. Last year I went to Korea and I think Rain was out of the country. The upside was I saw his face everywhere on everything. Even at the airport, there was a life size cardboard cut out of him.
I plan to make a tribute video for him, like what US comedian, and host Stephen Colbert did. That is my next project. I’ll keep you posted.

Talking music & TV with guests Ben & Anh May 13, 2011 by CherriiPOP
We learnt a new word on this week's show 'Triskaidekaphobia', it means the fear of the number 13. In some countries, people avoid naming a building level '13' by calling it level 12A instead. Many people are cautious of the number 13.
I hope you guys enjoyed the show this week! Thank you to my guests Ben Morgan & Anh Chau dropping by. Here is the show's playlist.

We're Learning Japanese with Ben Morgan
When I went to Japan last year, I picked up some words - but I wish I knew more Japanese so I could talk to the locals more. Luckily, special guest Ben Morgan joined us in studio this week for a Japanese lesson.
Listen to the podcast for the full lesson and find out why Ben wanted to learn Japanese.

The 1st 'Odd Things I saw for 2011' - Japan Hair salon stools for kids

The segment ‘Odd Things I saw’ is back for 2011. This is one of my favourite segments on the show. This is where I share odd things I saw in my everyday life or on holiday.
I came across this photo when I was reading the news. The story was about how the Japanese government is now allowing hairdressers to cut hair at evacuation shelters or makeshift shops, following the disasters. The previous law only allowed hairdressers to work in authorized shops. The disaster had destroyed many businesses, now the government is relaxing this law.
What caught my attention was the cool chair the child was sitting in - a car chair. I thought that was very odd and so cool! They can play with the steering wheel. Children would love getting their hair cut if they got to sit in a car chair. I wonder if there is an adult version?
