Gaga heels by Japanese Designer

When you think of Lady Gaga, what comes to mind first? Her meat dress? Her balloon dress? If you step back and think about it, all these images are related to fashion. We tend to think about her fashion before her music. She has crafted a signature look to cement her brand. Part of her look includes those crazy high platforms that have no heel. Lady Gaga has bought fame to the man behind those unconventional heels, shoe designer Noritaka Tatehana.

For the past 2 years, Tatehana has designed over 20 pairs of heels for Lady Gaga; which has helped him make his work become an icon. The story of how he and Lady Gaga started to collaborate is kind of cool.

Tatehana wanted to modernize the traditional Japanese ‘greta’ shoes that were worn by geishas, he designed his first shoe for his thesis. They were eye catching, pink leather with a reptilian texture. He sent out mass emails to people in the industry and he received 3 replies; a blogger, a journalist and Lady Gaga’s stylist. And the rest is history.

As for the future, Tatehana hopes to expand his brand to clothing, accessories and hopes to raise the profile of his Japanese heritage around the world.

Celebs get onboard for the ‘Save Japan! Project’ by designing T-shirts

A-listers Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham are amongst the celebrities who are designing t-shirts to help raise money for the relief effort in Japan.

Vogue Japan and GQ Japan have teamed up for this cause and hope to raise 100 million yen (1.2 million USD) for the Japanese Red Cross. The t-shirts will be available at UNIQLO stores in 11 countries and online at uniqlo.com.

Other celebrities who will be contributing t-shirt designs include: Karl Lagerfield, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Orlando Bloom and Blake Lively.

Rain is currently no. 1 on Time's 100 most influential people list

Korean superstar Rain has done it again! He's currently no. one of Time's 100 most influential people. The voting polls closes on April 14, so be sure to get your vote in!

Currently Rain is leading with 194,774 votes. Coming second is Hong Kong superstar Jay Chou with 100,193 votes. Rain is ahead of the pack by quite a large margin. Other people in the top 100 include Barack and Michelle Obama, Julian Assange, Lady Gaga, Betty White, Steve Jobs. It is quite brilliant that Rain is in the no. 1 position amongst these influential people.

Interesting that they grouped Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert together, they are currently in position number 28. A few years ago in 2007, Stephen Colbert announced a rivalry with Rain on his TV show! Stephen campaigned to be number one on Time's 100 most influential people list. His campaign included him making and singing a korean track!! Stephen was copying Rain's 'How to avoid the sun' music video. It's a bloody fantastic clip. Stephen got the wardrobe right and cool dance moves.

Unfortunately Stephen lost and Rain WON!!! Rain came first on Time's web poll which is different to the magazine's poll.

Stephen invited Rain to come on his show to do a dance off. Stephen put in a good effort but Rain being a brilliant dancer, danced Stephen out of this world!!

South Korea TV Stations set out new regulations for costumes on music programs

The VMAs aired on TV this week, and all the talk is about Lady GaGa’s controversial meat dress. She knows how to stir up people. I read that the dress is made of heavy duty fabric, then another source wrote that it was made from real meat… I don’t think it would be real meat, if it was it would have a repulsive small being at room temperature for a number of hours… No one would want to get close to her. Lady Gaga and other American artists are pushing the boundaries in fashion and this seems to translate to wearing less and less clothing. A lot of these artists would not be able to wear there costumes on Korean music shows because they are deemed to sexually suggestive.



Clothing censorship has been put in place on Korean music shows in a bid to reduce raunchiness in artists performances. The artists most affected by these regulations are female singers. The music show ‘Inkigayo’s’ regulations include bans on tops that reveal too much cleavage, exposure of the belly button, wearing white shorts under mini skits. There is a double standard because guys can perform topless, showing off there belly button and pecs so that is sexually suggestive. They should impose bans on what guys wear so the regulations are fair amongst the genders.



Fans have commented that these regulations take away the artist’s freedom of speech and creativity. I think wearing a bit more fabric won’t affect their freedom of speech or creativity that much.

We all know sex sells, but it’s time to use other tactics to sell… like focus on talent.
